NO NONSENSE COFFEE FOR

THOSE WHO WANDER.

Meriwether Coffee is a family-owned coffee roaster rooted in the small historic town of Wibaux, Montana. While they had successfully ran a local restaurant for over 20 years, co-founders Jim and Mike Welsh had a passion for coffee, and wanted to reach a larger market than a small restaurant ever could.

Meriwether Coffee sought us out looking for a consultant that could help bring the brand to life. When they first came to us, didn't even have a name. All they had was a passion for coffee and an eagerness to build a brand that resonated with their types of people.

What made this project special was that it was essentially a blank canvas for us to work our magic and bring this brand to life from the ground up.

We worked alongside Meriwether Coffee through brand strategy, visual identity, packaging design, and website design.

FOR THOSE WHO WANDER

The entire core of the brand revolved around the idea of "Frontier Exploration" and "Escapism", which is the desire to pursue a better life and to escape the life we currently live.

The reality is, many of us live a life overwhelmed by technology, automation, and going through the motions just to pay the bills.

We wanted to build a brand story that went back to traditional American roots and simpler times. Hence, the name "Meriwether" which is a call-back to the famous explorer Meriwether Lewis from the Lewis and Clark expedition in 1804.

FIND YOUR PURPOSE

AMERICAN FRONTIER AND A POSITIVE IMPACT

From this point, the rest of the brand identity became pretty clear. We brought the brand to life with rugged, vibrant colors, charming western typography, and other brand assets that enhanced the brands story and vibe.

We completed Meriwether Coffee’s unique identity with a suite of vintage inspired badge designs to give their brand versatility, charm, and strong storytelling.

CLIENT TESTIMONIAL

“We had a fantastic experience working with Kyle Bigelow at Bigelow Design on the startup of Meriwether Coffee Company. From day one, Kyle brought a deep understanding of what it takes to build a business from scratch, especially on a true bootstrap budget. His practical knowledge, strategic thinking, and ability to prioritize what actually matters made a huge difference for us in the early stages.

Kyle kept projects moving forward with steady, timely progress and was always responsive and solution-focused. Just as important, he brought a great attitude to every interaction — positive, encouraging, and fully invested in helping us succeed.

If you’re in business and need someone who understands both design and the realities of building something from the ground up, we highly recommend Kyle. He’s been a valuable partner in helping Meriwether Coffee Company take shape.”
